37a06e4a72d6cb27621f1ed829bbee81_MIn support of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Professionals (NJDEP), Alpha Analytical is happy to provide you with

an updated technical bulletin adapting the new technical regulations and HOTS rules for 2018. These new regulations and rules have been adhered to all of Alphas Analytical services.

On August 6, 2018, the NJDEP released new rule publications for technical requirements for site remediation (Tech Regs) (N.J.A.C. 7:26E) rule amendments, and the new Heating Oil Tank System (HOTS) rules (N.J.A.C. 7:26F). Both rules contain a Table 2-1 Analytical Requirements for Petroleum Storage and Discharge Areas.

A summary of the changes for the Tech Regs Table 2-1 and HOTS Table 2-1 is listed below:

  • Add:   1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene to VOCs for water samples collected from ‘No. 2 Fuel Oil’ areas

  • Add:   Ammonia (Total) to water samples collected from  ‘Crude Oil’ areas

NJDEP issued two correction notices to Footnotes in Table 2-1 for both the Tech Regs and HOTS Rules.  NJDEP removed requirements to separate out the alkanes from SVOC TICs. NJDEP also removed the requirements to add 1-Methylnaphthalene to SVOCs.

For more information regarding the new tech regulations and HOTS rules please download our technical bulletin or visit the NJDEP pages below.
