Why Fence-line and Perimeter Air Monitoring Programs (PAMPs) are Vital for Site Cleanup

by Will Elcoate

Fence-line or Perimeter Monitoring measurements are used to control off site emissions from a wide range of sites.  These emissions may be regulated by permit or consent order.  They may represent an unacceptable health risk to nearby residents or a public nuisance through odor or physical properties of the materials being released into the air.

These sites cover a broad range of situations including, but not limited to, Brownfields cleanups, State Cleanup sites, Superfund remediation projects, construction sites, Landfills, Airports and Manufacturing facilities.  The common theme is that the activities on site are creating the situation where the materials; volatile chemicals, particulates or aerosols are going off-site into the neighborhood. Regulations related to the control of these emissions are inconsistent and vary broadly depending on the location of the site and the type and quantity of materials being released.

Consequently, Air Monitoring is a vital factor in site cleanups. Alpha Analytical has experience with Air Monitoring Programs and provides:

  • Consistent on-time delivery of quality data
  • Ability to respond rapidly in critical situations
  • Experience and expertise to assist in solving air monitoring testing challenges

The following table outlines some of our Air Testing capabilities to support fence-line and perimeter monitoring.
